AROUND the northwoods

Want to spend the day shopping?  Your list of places to go is virtually endless.  Clothing, sporting goods, antiques,  quirky gifts, specialty hand-made goods, fine art, wineries and breweries, candy & fudge shops, toys, bakeries - these are just the tip of the iceberg...

Don't forget a stop at one of the many ice cream parlors on your way too or from!

The Northwoods welcomes bikers of all abilities—whether you’re looking for a day-long trek or a minutes-long ride to the ice cream shop. The up north area has fantastic mountain biking as well as thousands of miles of quiet roadways for road bicyclists. These trails can lead to adventure, a scenic beach or a restaurant with an outdoor patio—take your pick. Several paved trails are great for both mountain biking and road bicycling, and it’s a great way to pedal with younger riders.

Relax and take in the fresh air and scenery of Oneida County. You’ll find trails throughout the county, so you won’t have to travel too far to find a true wilderness experience. Trails such as the Raven Nature Trail and the Awassa Nature Trail run through pristine forests but are also close to and dining. Quiet and careful hikers can expect to see lots of wildlife on Oneida County trails. Common sightings include bald eagles, deer, bear, pileated woodpeckers, ruffed grouse and wild turkey.

Vast forests, thousands of lakes, wildlife galore...

For more than a century, the Northwoods of Wisconsin has attracted travelers from near and far who seek outstanding fishing, scenery, trails and Northwoods hospitality that makes them feel right at home.
